Great Ideas!
Everyone is continuing to send in green tips. It's great that people are doing so much to protect the environment. The winners who submitted these tips will receive a prize pack of Sasquatch products. If there's one thing we can all learn, it's that there is more than one way to live a greener life. It's great to use recycled products, but you can use less water, use cleaning products that are less harsh on the environment (and you!), donate items to charity rather than throwing them out, or reuse things instead of throwing them out.
August Winning Tips:
I catch the condensation from my A/C unit to water plants. I get at least two buckets full each day in summer.
Use rain barrels to collect water for watering plants, washing cars, and the water can also be used in emergency situations. Rain barrels are an easy way to become eco friendly.
I think all schools should participate in "waste free lunches." In my lunch room, they're taking away all garbage cans. Not only will it save money with disposal costs but it will also help the earth. Using cloth napkins instead of paper ones, using containers for your food instead of disposible plastic bags, and using metal silverware instead of disposibles is all part of my school's "waste free lunch plan." Now, perhaps parents don't like kids taking from the sets at home, so instead go to the dollar or thrift store and buy some there just for school lunches.
Use baking soda for most of your household cleaning. This prevents inhaling harmful fumes and promotes Earth friendly cleaning.
Whenever I want to redecorate my room, I cut pictures out of magazines that I like and put them on my walls instead of just tossing the magazine completely. Or using something old you already have in your house and give it new life in a different spot!
