Sasquatch asked Carolina Pad a few questions about what we're doing for the environment.
Q. Why did Carolina Pad develop Sasquatch Brand products?
A. At Carolina Pad™, protecting trees is important. So we decided to make a line of green products that would reduce our impact on the earth.
With the Sasquatch Brand, we're taking our first steps in conserving our forests. Sasquatch products use recycled content and help save trees.
Q. Does Carolina Pad have other products made of recycled content?
A. In 2009, we introduced a new line of eco-friendly art pads. These pads contain 50% - 60% recycled content.
In February 2009, we received Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification. Our first line of FSC products will hit the stores this December. We are currently seeking Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) certification too. All Carolina Pad products will have FSC and SFI seals by 2010.
Q. What is FSC and SFI certification and how do they make the world greener?
A. The FSC and SFI protect and promote healthy forests. Adopting their standards means that the paper used in our products comes from well-managed forests. Read more about the FSC and SFI here.
Q. Are there other ways Carolina Pad is helping the environment?
A. We're doing a lot. For example, we:
- look at ways to reduce packaging
- use a paperless pay check system
- put recycling bins in every department
- recycle corrugate and plastic in our warehouses
- educate employees on eco-friendly practices for work and home
A. We are currently developing products for 2010 and 2011. Products that help the environment are a big part of this process.
